The 1934-1939 Alfa Romeo 6C2300 was a replacement for the long-running and successful 1500/1750/1900 range. It was considered the "volume" Alfa of these years. Although not as fast, the 6C2300 was more civilized than the firm's contemporary eight-cylinder monster.
The 6C2300's styling was strictly derivative of other Alfas and concurrent Italians, though many sedans had distinctly U.S. lines. Early models had beam front axles, and 1935 models brought coil spring independent front suspension (a first for Alfa) allied to swing-axle (Alfa said "Porsche type") independent rear. The 1934-1939 Alfa Romeo 6C2300 offered twincam engines but no "blowers" now that racing regulations had changed, so top speed was less than 80 mph in most cases.
The 1934-1939 Alfa Romeo 6C2300 had many wheelbase, power, and body style variations. It also gave rise to the 6C-2500 of postwar fame.
